What you're trying to book
Sukiyabashi Jiro Honten is Jiro Ono's original 10-seat counter in a Ginza basement, made famous by the 2011 documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Chef Ono is in his late 90s but still present for most services; his son Yoshikazu runs the kitchen day-to-day. About ¥40,000 for an omakase of roughly 20 pieces, lunch or dinner.
In 2020 the Michelin Guide removed Sukiyabashi Jiro Honten from its listings — not because the sushi changed, but because Michelin only lists restaurants accessible to the general public, and the Ginza main branch stopped accepting public reservations. The sushi is still considered among the best in Japan.
How reservations actually work
Sukiyabashi Jiro Honten does not accept reservations from the general public. The restaurant does not publish a phone number for external use, does not take email, and does not appear on any booking platform.
The only realistic path is a luxury hotel concierge with a standing relationship. Expect the concierge to tell you whether Saturday or Monday is possible for your dates, and to quote a tip of ¥10,000 to ¥30,000 on top of the meal. The Roppongi branch, run by Jiro's eldest son Takashi, remains open to the public and is a two-Michelin-star experience in its own right — an easier booking.
If you want Moshi Moshi to book it for you
For the Ginza main branch, the voice agent alone can't get you in — the restaurant does not accept public calls in any language. If you're staying at a hotel with a Jiro relationship (Mandarin Oriental, Aman, Park Hyatt), we can coordinate with their concierge.
For most travelers, we'll recommend booking the Roppongi branch instead — we can reach it by phone in keigo, it's Michelin-rated, and it's genuinely excellent. Tell us which you'd prefer.
