What you're trying to book

Nihonryori RyuGin (龍吟, 'dragon's roar') moved to the 7th floor of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya in 2018 after fifteen years in Roppongi. The new dining room is three times the size of the original, but the counter still seats only about twenty, and Chef Seiji Yamamoto's modern kaiseki still holds three Michelin stars.

The menu is tightly seasonal and hovers around ¥40,000 to ¥50,000 per person with pairing. Dinner only. Closed Sunday. The building sits directly on top of Hibiya station, about a ten-minute walk from Tokyo Station.

How reservations actually work

RyuGin has some of the best English service of any three-star kaiseki in Tokyo. Three booking channels work for non-Japanese speakers: Pocket Concierge (English form, confirmation in English), OMAKASE, and calling +81-3-6630-0007 directly — the reservation staff will switch to English if asked.

Pocket Concierge typically has seats two to three months out. If the slot you want isn't listed online, phoning often reveals availability that hasn't been released to the platforms.

If you want Moshi Moshi to book it for you

For RyuGin, we usually start with Pocket Concierge — if your date is available, that's the fastest path. If not, we call the restaurant in Japanese, ask about off-menu slots (chef's counter seat, early dinner, a specific pairing), and hold nothing until you confirm.

You pay only when the reservation is confirmed, in English, in your inbox.
