What you're trying to book
Kikunoi Honten opened in 1912 in the Higashiyama foothills, a short walk from Yasaka Shrine. Chef Yoshihiro Murata is one of the elder statesmen of modern kaiseki; he consulted on the Japanese-cuisine chapter of the UNESCO intangible-heritage registration.
The restaurant holds three Michelin stars and has a split menu: lunch is more accessible, starting around ¥10,000, while dinner is the full seasonal kaiseki journey at ¥30,000 and up. Closed the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.
How reservations actually work
There are three ways to book. Phone at +81-75-561-0015 is the primary channel, and the call is in Japanese. For non-Japanese speakers, the easier paths are Pocket Concierge or TABLEALL — both have English listings with limited seat allocations.
The online seats tend to be standard tables at peak hours. If you want a private tatami room, a specific lunch time, or a multi-course dinner with sake pairing, those still go through the phone.
If you want Moshi Moshi to book it for you
If you've already tried Pocket Concierge and TABLEALL and the slot you want isn't there, Moshi Moshi can call Kikunoi directly. Tell us the date, time, party size, and whether you want a private room or a pairing.
We call in polite Japanese, confirm the course, and email you the confirmation in English. No charge unless the reservation is made.
